According to recent studies the best computer games for healthy brains are those that emphasize creativity rather than first-person shooter games. Casino Tycoon games fit into this category perfectly and you get to play the games that you build. Alex went digging for the best casino tycoon games for PC and mobile where you get to build, expand and manage your own virtual casino. If you remember (and love) classic tycoon games like Zoo and Rollercoaster Tycoon, you should love this!
PERSONAL COMPUTER
Casino Inc was released in 2003 and lets you be in charge of your own 1970’s-era casino. You can build your casino from the ground up and customize it down to the finest detail. The game was later expanded with The Management expansion pack. Buy the game through Steam and you’ll get the expansion pack included with your download.
Casino Tycoon was released in 2001, predating some of the other entries on this list. It’s a little harder to find, though you should be able to pick up a copy on Amazon, and here’s a gameplay video uploaded by YouTube user ClassicGamesRoom. (There was also a Hong Kong action movie of the same name, and a sequel if you’re a bit of a movie buff, too!)
Vegas Tycoon (sometimes written as Vega$ Tycoon) was released in 2003/2004. Reviews were favourable – a 76% rating on Metacritic and 7,7 on IGN – and you should still be able to find copies through Amazon. Check out the official video game trailer on YouTube.
Vegas: Make it Big came out in 2003 – we’re almost starting to think there was a golden age of casino tycoon games here! The game starts you off with a much smaller gambling setup and lets you grow it into a massive gambling complex in Vegas – well, the title did say big. Casino Chaos was developed by Big Fish Games, a popular casual gaming company based in Washington that was also behind games like Mystery Case Files, Relic Rescue and Big City Adventure. Casino Chaos falls in the realm of time-management games like Diner Dash, Build-a-Lot and Airport Mania – maybe we’re being biased, but those were a lot of fun.
Casino RPG is classed as an MMORPG – that’s short for Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game; as far as we can tell, the game is a product of a Kickstarter project launched (successfully, of course) by GoldFire Studios. What makes this game as versatile as it is unusual, it allows you to play both sides of the table: Manage and build a casino and play behind the tables.
Horse Racing Manager isn’t technically casino-related, but it is gambling-related and too odd not to mention. In this game, you get to choose between three gameplay modes in which you can buy and manage a stable, raise and buy horses or take part in the races.
