Counter-Strike Global Offensive (CS:GO), being one of the most popular esports, does not run out of juicy stories, so here we are bringing you the latest CSGO news in 2021.
CSGO Major Due Soon
Valve Major Championships, commonly known as Majors, are tournaments sponsored by Valve with a prize pool of $1,250,000 (previously $250,000 and $1,000,000). They were first introduced in 2013 at DreamHack Winter. Earlier versions of Counter-Strike also had events considered Majors, but they were not supported by Valve.
PGL is hosting the next big thing called CSGO Major, and this is going to happen where it all began—Stockholm, Sweden. Fans of CSGO betting will be surprised that it is a live event. It is slated to happen in Ericsson Globe, and people can go there physically to watch despite the pandemic not over yet. The capacity of the arena is 16,000 people. The tournament will only take place if the producers and organizers successfully meet and deploy safety procedures. If not, then Valve may cancel the game like what happened in Brazil in 2020.
The prize pool for this major is a whopping $2 million. It is currently the largest pool prize in the history of CSGO Major. The plan is to make this unique—it is the first Major to be streamed live in 4K resolution. It will also show custom-made HUD and other features, with elements of augmented reality technology.
Jamppi Leaves Ence
The 19-year-old CSGO star is no longer playing for Ence. He spent a total of ten months with this team, but he is ready to move on. Those who love esports betting should take note, as this can change the landscape of CS:GO. Ence’s results have been declining when another player left in 2019, and now another star is leaving.
Years ago, Jamppi bought an account and shared it with a friend, which results in him being banned from Valve events. He tried to sue the Valve Corporation, but he did not win. Finland court did not find any wrongdoing from the end of Valve.
Now, Ence is going to face a new horizon. Jamppi is likely to join another platform because of the ban. He used to be able to play CSGO in non-Valve-sponsored events. This time, rumour has it that he will be playing for Riot’s Valorant.
GeT_RiGhT Teases Retirement
The superstar and legend GeT_RiGhT teases that he is now transitioning to full-time streaming. What this means is that he is now going to retire from CS:GO, and he is no longer going to compete. He had a wonderful 18-year career in the game. Also known as GTR, he was named MVP (Most Valuable Player) more than 10 times in his CSGO career. He is also one of the top-ranking players in the whole world.
In late 2020, his fans on Twitter got the news about his retirement when he showed a video of a slow walk to a room. He then followed up with a vague tweet about his retirement. It was on January 16 of 2021, when he announced that he signed back with the Dignitas team, not as a player but as a content creator.
Vanity Retires and Moves to Valorant
Another star is leaving CS:GO for good and is moving to Valorant. This player is Vanity, whose real name is Anthony Malaspina. If you remember, he rose to stardom in 2018 with Team Singularity. He won the WESG USA with this team and then subsequently won Fragdelphia 14.
He expressed his gratitude to the CSGO company and its community, and he also thanked his former teammates. He has decided to move and advance his career in Valorant, but his personal reasons are undisclosed.
As of now, there is no clear word which team in Valorant he is joining. For now, he is exploring the platform, and fans know that he has been playing a lot of Valorant lately. However, there is no doubt that many teams want him to be with them, knowing that he has achieved a lot in the CSGO universe.
