RealBridge Wins IBPA Personalities of the Year Award

RealBridge, an innovative platform that has redefined online bridge, has been honored with the International Bridge Press Association (IBPA) Personalities of the Year Award. About the IBPA

The IBPA was founded to support and promote bridge journalism worldwide. Its annual awards highlight notable achievements in the bridge world, recognizing individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the game.

The Journey of RealBridge

RealBridge was conceived during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Graham Hazel, a bridge player and software developer, envisioned a platform that would replicate the feel of face-to-face bridge while leveraging modern technology. In April 2020, he began developing a system that integrated audio and video with a user-friendly interface.

Over the summer of 2020, Hazel teamed up with Shireen Mohandes to refine the platform. They gathered feedback from players, directors, teachers, and organizers worldwide, ensuring the platform met diverse needs. By November 2020, RealBridge officially launched and quickly gained traction. Within four years, it became a staple for over 500 clubs, 35 national bridge organizations, and several zonal organizations.

Features and Impact

RealBridge stands out by offering built-in video and audio capabilities, intuitive interfaces, and support for diverse bridge activities. The platform has been used for casual games, teaching sessions, and high-level competitions, including national and international events.

The team behind RealBridge is committed to fostering the bridge community. They support junior bridge initiatives, assist with fundraisers, and sponsor other bridge technology projects. Notably, their efforts include organizing international events like the “Up Over versus Down Under” competition, which brought together 800 players from across the globe.

Looking Ahead

RealBridge aims to enhance the online bridge experience without replacing face-to-face games. The platform continues to evolve, adding new features and ensuring accessibility for players at all levels.

A Well-Deserved Recognition

The IBPA award acknowledges the vision and dedication of the RealBridge team. Their work has enriched the bridge world, providing a seamless and social online experience that appeals to players everywhere. Congratulations to RealBridge on this remarkable achievement.
